How To Be A Better Girlfriend

If you are in a relationship and it just doesn't seem to be going as well as it should, maybe you need to learn how to be a better girlfriend. The way to be a good girlfriend is to first know who you are as yourself and be confident in that knowledge. In other words, you can't love someone else unless you love yourself first.

If you are already there then you shouldn't have any problems being an equal partner in a committed relationship. If you find you still need some assistance, the following information should help.

When learning how to be a better girlfriend there are some things to keep in mind. Treat your boyfriend exactly how you would like to be treated. Do not take him for granted but don't be a doormat either. If you live together there should be an equal division of labor to keep things in order. Some things, like dishes or laundry, should be done together. Never presume that just because he's the guy he should be the one to take out the garbage or fix the leaky sink.

If things are not going as well as they should it is possible that the communication between you has broken down somewhat. In that case, try to pick up on whatever it is that may be bothering him. Listen to the things he says or, more importantly, the things he doesn't say.

Maybe he is feeling a little under appreciated, then all you have to do is pay more attention to him or let him have a little space. Tell him you want him to go have a night out with the guys. He will appreciate this and start to feel like his needs are important to you just like yours are to him and the relationship will once again be on an equal footing.

Take an interest in the things that are important to him, even if you don't get it. Sports, cars, sci-fi movies, whatever...try to be interested, at least for a while, ask a question or two and then you can safely go about your own business. Or, if you really are interested stay and learn all you can about what he is doing. You might find a hidden interest and he might like teaching you something new.

A good relationship is based on love, trust, and mutual respect. If you don't trust him, the relationship probably won't last for very long. If you find you have trust issues the best way to overcome them is to talk to him and try to resolve them. If you get jealous every time he wants to go out with the guys, it is probably your baggage and not his. Work on unloading that baggage before you enter into a relationship then you won't have issues during the relationship.

Relationships do take some work to be successful but the issues, if any, should not be all-consuming. There has to be time for the fun stuff, too. Read and follow these tips on how to be a better girlfriend and you will be appreciated more by him and not considered a doormat or a nag.
